Followup-to: colugx@colug.net MEETING NOTICE ============== Central Ohio Linux Users Group Date: Saturday, October 25, 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM local Meeting Presentation ==================== Topic: Internet Mail 201 - Greg Sidelinger will discuss the infrastructure requirements and How-To's of installing and maintaining an Internet mail server. Greg will provide documentation and demonstrate installing Postfix and Cyrus on a Linux Debian distribution. This initial presentation is designed to assist members in the design and construction of there own implementation of a SMTP/POP/IMAP/Web mail server. Specific requirements and configuration of connections and name services will be covered. Additionally, mail routing and mailbox concepts will be discussed. Time affording, Greg will also install and demonstrate Squirrel Mail on Apache, a popular web interface providing HTTP access to E-Mail. A second presentation is in the planning as a follow up that will cover more advanced concepts such as UCE (Unsolicited Commercial E-Mail - "SPAM") controls, virus scanning and anomalization, and secure transfer. This initial presentation will serve as the platform for the second installment. We plan on having a very active list during November as our associates implement there own Internet mail services. The upcoming meeting is open to the general public, and all with an interest in Free Software, Open Source, Apache, MySQL, Perl, PHP, sendmail, Linux, BSD, Unix, Windows, or whatever, are invited. Westerville, OH 43082 865-4700 ...The group has met on the LAST Wednesday or LAST Saturday of a month, alternating by month to allow more folks to mesh their schedules with COLUG's.
