MEETING NOTICE
==============
Central Ohio Linux Users Group
Date: Wednesday, March 26 from 7 PM to 9 PM local
Meeting Presentation
====================
Stoneware's webOS is the next evolution in virtual desktop
computing. For those who are not yet familiar with the growing
webOS market, a webOS is a virtual desktop on the web. It is a
simple, less bloated, remotely accessible operating environment
that runs in a browser and is independent of the underlying
operating system. It delivers a rich desktop-like experience,
coupled with various built-in applications. Not to be confused
with a published desktop from a Microsoft Terminal Server, Citrix
Presentation Server, or a virtual desktop from VMWare, webOS is
completely built from web technology and based on AJAX. A single
server can scale to thousands, it requires only an Internet
browser (IE, Firefox, Opera, or Safari), and can be accessed
anywhere over the web.
The presentation will cover delivering applications and
information through a Virtual Web Desktops. How Linux can be
used, Linux as the backend server platform and the thin client
frontend.
As always, feel free to bring with you any ailing or
problematic systems for expert diagnosis (or destruction).
The upcoming meeting is open to the general public, and all with
an interest in Free Software, Open Source, Apache, MySQL, Perl,
PHP, Linux, BSD, Unix, Windows, are invited. There are no dues or
fees.
Several members present will be able to verify identities for
those interested in CACert assurance and who have already done
the preparation. Anyone with two forms of government issued
identification (passport, drivers license, military ID, Social
Security card...) can get instant assurance points. See
http://www.colug.net/cacert/ for details, including what
preparation applicants need to do _before_ the meeting.

CAcert, PGP, PGP, and community 'web of trust matters
As part of its standing meeting process, COLUG usually has
CACert qualified Assurors
at each meeting. Please review that process and the benefits it confers.
We are in planning stages for adding formal PGP and GPG keysigning
services as well.
