This presentation by Russ Herrold was a hands on tour through some issues which COLUG members had been asking about; how the mailing list software majordomo worked and was configured; and how to get sound working with ISA sound hardware on a Linux 2.0 kernel.

One of the examples was an early piece of unsolicited email from a non-subscriber, Robert Levin. ;)

The Chime script is added to a cron file, and marks the passage of time, to awaken the engrossed geek from his code trance.
