Our Columbus Fortune 200 client seeks an experienced Linux Systems
Administrator for a 6 month engagement with them.  

 You will be involved in these tasks:

1. Monitor servers for status, health checks, system logs, OS
changes/upgrades, networking, disk utilization, backup, disaster
recovery:
2. Assist with supporting advance workstation - Support incidents
related to Linux and SGI workstations.
3. Assist with supporting Linux and SGI cluster - Support incidents
related to OS, networking, disk utilization, trouble shooting.
4. Assume the RedHat proxy management role for all RHEL based products
including, upgrades, system patches, client specific package builds and
distributions.
5. Lease Replacement for CAE equipment
6. 2nd & 3rd level support for CAE infrastructure
7. System diagramming and documentation

LINUX specific knowledge :

* Experience Programming in C, C++ and Fortran for Unix Environments.
An understanding of this is a must for debugging the segmentation
violations, making the MPI libraries / kernel drivers / LS-DYNA /
LS-POST
and sending useful bug reports back to the vendors.
* Experience Compiling Open Source Applications to run on Custom
Hardware / Linux OS combinations (nedit, xxdiff, xanim, xv....)
* Experience Compiling MPI applications for Clustering Environments.
The Clusters require the various MPI Libraries to be compiled and Linked
with the kernel to run LS-DYNA / Fluent / etc...
* RedHat Certified Engineer.
* NIS, NFS, Samba experience. For login and authentication on the
Linux OS.
* Experience Compiling and Optimizing Linux Kernels for Specific
Applications / Hardware.
* Experience Configuring OpenGL Drivers For Various Hardware
Configurations under Linux
* Perl, TCL, TK scripting experience

Our Dayton client is looking for a Linux Administrator for a 6 month
contract to hire situation:

 

Operating System installations, upgrades and troubleshooting. Work
within team and project environments in delivering Linux and other UNIX
engineering support. Technical accountabilities include (but are not
limited to) the administration of: 1. Red Hat Linux, Solaris, HP-UX, and
other UNIX variant Operating Systems 2. Volume Management (Veritas and
LVM/SDS/ODS) 3. NFS/Samba 4. DNS, NIS, LDAP 5. HP OpenView 6. Clustering
(Oracle 10g RAC with Red Hat, Suncluster, VCS) 7. Other third party
system/middleware applications including Web and Database server
technologies. Assist in evaluation, planning, implementation and
integration of new UNIX software and hardware technology. Some weekend
and after-hours work will be required.

 

BS/BA or equivalent in CS/CE or MIS.  5+ years experience required.
Critical skills include:  Very Strong UNIX Systems Engineering support
skills (Red Hat, and Solaris experience is preferred; HP-UX is a plus).
Skilled in OS installations, upgrades, maintenance and troubleshooting.
Experienced with UNIX system utilities/tools such as DNS, NIS, LDAP,
NFS, Red Hat Satellite Server, cfengine, sendmail, Automounter, volume
and storage management, network configuration, security tools and
disciplines, and HTTP services such as iPlanet or Apache; Java, XML, and
Websphere experience a plus.
