Job Description:A local Dayton client is looking to hire Linux System Administrator for deployment and maintenance of the Linux server infrastructure.
Duties will include routine advanced technical support of Internet services, maintaining system documentation, minimizing Linux server outages and developing new system administration techniques.
Primary Responsibilities
* Troubleshoot routine problems involving HTTP, SMTP, POP3, FTP, DNS, and other Internet services.
* Work with Strategic Unix Systems Administrator to deploy, maintain and upgrade all Linux based servers.
* Write administrative scripts to simplify and automate administrative tasks.
* Maintain Linux system documentation.
* Work with customer service and technical support staff during server outages to keep them informed.
* Ensure timely notifications of any and all issues based on the Outage Procedures.
* Work with management to generate useful statistical reports.
Secondary Responsibilities
* Monitor services provided by Linux server farm.
* Evaluate server performance and identify areas for improvement.
* Assist Strategic Unix Systems Administrators during server/network outages to restore operational capability.
* Recommend technologies to improve server performance, thereby improving the quality of service for external customers.
* Work with management to implement new service offerings requiring Unix server support.
* Promote all services while interfacing with customers.
Qualifications: 
* Experience administrating Linux system in a high up-time, multi-user environment.
* Knowledge of at least one basic scripting language (Perl, BASH, Python).
* Familiarity with Internet services such as Apache, Postfix, Qmail, Bind, etc.
