Sr. Unix Engineer -- direct-hire opportunity in Dublin.
Roles and Duties:
Build and maintain a Disaster Recovery Infrastructure
Help test the infrastructure with internal and external customers.
Will work very closely with the "High Availability" Team and other
Engineering/Operations Teams to help implement HA solutions and projects
such as data center moves.
Must be proficient in Redhat Linux operating system and related
technologies. Some experience with clustering and data replication solutions
such as the Veritas suite of products and EMC storage solutions will be
desirable.
Effective communicator and able to articulate plans, facilitate meetings,
solicit feedback, and work with other technical areas to resolve issues and
create solutions in a positive and effective manner.
Skills Required:
- Strong technical background in Redhat Linux and related technologies.
- Experience in other UNIX operations systems (Solaris, HP-UX) and Microsoft
Windows is highly preferred.
- Proven ability to design and deploy solutions in a complex environment.
- Knowledge in Clustering Technology (Veritas) and replication technology
desired.
- Strong scripting and TCP/IP Networking knowledge.
- Should have a strong understanding and previous working experience of DNS
and SMTP architecture.
- Ability to clearly document solutions, and help mentor and train other IT
personnel.
- Excellent People and Communication skills and positive outlook and
attitude
Desired Skills/Abilities:
- Understanding of BEA Weblogic, Apache and IIS
- Experience working with multiple Distributed DB environments
- Working knowledge of storage environments and storage management.
- Knowledge of ITIL
- Self-motivated and possess good project management skills.
Education:
Bachelors Degree with 5-8 years relevant experience in similar environment.
