I don't know.  When you said:

do you mean that on some computer other than your laptop that you 
_could_ boot the CD?  If so, then you know that the CD is bootable.  
(and it would be good to _know_ that the CD is bootable)

Even though you have not successfully booted the CD on your laptop, 
once the laptop boots Win XP, can you browse the CD?  

What make and model is your laptop?
