OK you guys got me to start playing with ldap.

I found a web sit that some samples, I couldn't get them to work.
Ad a quick start on openldap.org 's web site.
After many many trials I finally was able to build a couple of entries.

Question... Does the Oreilly LDAP book explain the language syntax.
It seemed that neither the openldap.org site or any other that I've found
really discuss the rules.  The error messages are, to a newby, obtuse.


Well, anyhow, thanks for getting me interested in playing with it again.
This time, at least, I have been able to get  two entries built.

Any recommendations for a gui?  I''ve trying diradmin
and I ain't getting it.
