Then I must concurr with Mikes question - why then are Andrew's messages complete with repeated as well as new political comments still showing up after we have been asked to move elsewhere?

I was going to reply off-list because I am trying to keep the signal
to noise ratio on the list at an acceptable level. But I think maybe
multiple people need to "hear" this. My apologies in advance for
contributing *yet again* to this off-topic thread...

*Everybody* is supposed to post off-topic content elsewhere. If it's
political in nature (which the off-topic stuff generally is) it's
supposed to go to colug-politics. There's actually a colug-lunch list
to where people invite each other to lunch.

I'm fairly certain that nobody has a problem with somebody posting a
single message that may be off-topic to the main list. But if
*repeated* requests to "take it elsewhere" are ignored, it gets
annoying fast and you run the risk of getting in people's kill filters
so they'll never see another post from you. And it's hard to spread
any message or get actual technical help if everybody has decided to
ignore you.

HTH...
