[COLUG] 2 Red Hat questions

I've made some excellent progress with my Red Hat machines, and I
_am_ now able to mount shares served from a Windows NFS server. As
soon as I get the free time to tidy up my notes, I hope to present a
more formalized howto to the group.

I now have two questions about Red Hat:
1) I'm using a post-install script in my Kickstart configuration to
prep the machines for our environment. One thing I'd like to do is
update the machines to the latest releases of all the packages at
the time of install. These two lines in my kickstart post-install
script seem to work:
   up2date --nox --update
   up2date --nox --force kernel kernel-devel kernel-smp-devel
My question is: is there any way to provide feedback to Anaconda as
to what's happening? The install screen simply shows the swirling
icon, with no feedback to the user. I haven't tried to -- but doubt
that I can -- omit the --nox directive. This isn't a huge deal, but
it would be nice to provide some indication of how far along the
update is.

2) Once installed, the Red Hat Network icon appears on everyone's
desktop. Is there something I can do to each user's profile -- or
/etc/skel/, or anywhere else -- to suppress the display of the RHN
icon? Regular users can't update the system, so it will do nothing
but annoy them to see a strobing red icon when updates are
available.

Thanks!
Scott
