[COLUG] [OT] Older Solaris Programs crash under newer xservers

This is a tad OT, but google hasn't helped, and the solution may result
in more linux goodness, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

We have a lab that runs some software off of an older solaris box.

If we ssh into it and try to run the software from RHEL 4, xwin32 7.1,
or xceed 8.0 (the latter two being xserver for windows the OSU has had
site licensed) then it works initially, but when trying to display a
graph crashes. For xwin32 we can run it in compatability mode with 256
color, and it will work, but the colors are so bad the graph is
unusable. If we try from an older version of xceed, 7.1, then it will
work and the colors are acceptable. Exceed 7.1 is no longer supported,
so we're unable to buy more licenses. If I can get it working from
linux, then they will install a couple Linux desktops. Anyone have any
ideas on how to get it to work? (links are greatly appreciated)

Thanks,
Bill
