Bill,

I've had good luck with remote displays running on my Linux servers 
using Next Generation X (NX) from NoMachine.com, they also make an 
nxserver for Solaris:

You'll also have to install nxclient and nxnode.

The nxclient is also available for Linux and Windows.

Their software is free as in beer, and parts of it are free as in freedom.
