I'm a bit surprised that the LIF connector broke, 
instead of the flexible cable. 

URLs for high resolution close up pictures would be nice. 
I use magnifying glasses in front of ordinary cameras for this. 
Alternatively, you could bring it to lunch for geeks to gawk at.
