[COLUG] Recovering hosed Thinkpad R&R partition

Dear Colug,

I hosed my MBR in the process of trying to rezise partitions on my Dual 
Boot R50e Thinkpad. Now it freezed with a GRUB error 22. I tired to 
recover with Knoppix, but had no luck.

So I figured I would just restore with the hidden IBM Rescue and 
Recovery stuff on the hidden partitions, i.e. press the IBM Access 
button at startup. Alas that also will not do anything except the usual 
BIOS set up: the Rescue and Recovery workspace does not open.

I have no CD backups: they don't give you any and this machine has no 
burner (I got it cheap from Lenovo, now just out of warrenty).

Can anyone offer any help? My googling ended up pretty useless (in my 
state of ignorance).
