I hear what you are saying and I do not disagree.. But perhaps you  
did not notice the details..

This is a VIRTUAL machine on my mac. Yes I suppose it could be a real  
server but by "my mac" I mean my laptop.

So I am really just working through some examples on setting up a  
server. I will be training on this stuff later so I feel that apache  
is a good choice because it is the archetype server.

Lighthttpd means we would be running PHP as fastcgi or something.  
Perhaps a good idea but not the "standard" as of yet.

I like Debian myself but I just grabbed ubuntu from freeoszoo for the  
Q and Qemu emulator. It works well enough.

Who would have thought that I would live long enough to hear the  
words "apache is a resource hog"  !

Life is funny that way. Soon MySQL will be the bloated overloaded DB  
and SQLlite will be the speedy DB .

Remember when PHP had a gentle learning curve ?

Remember when Python was the new PERL ?
