Ghostscript is THE free program for viewing postscript.  In fact, I can't 
think of a non-free viewer either.

Postscript is a printer language, not designed for on-screen viewing.

Your best best is to use ghostscript's "ps2pdf" program to convert your 
postscript to PDF, and send the PDF to your relative to view in the Adobe 
Acrobat Reader.
