I do... and that's a good point.  There are stereo mixers out there, 
however, which was what I was thinking...

It was privately suggested that I might look at the Nady MM242 4-channel 
stereo mini mixer (MSRP $49.95, sale price $30 online).

Another really good (private) suggestion that came in was to look beyond 
the consumer electronics stores like Radio Shake; specifically mentioned 
was Music Go Round (a used music equipment store, for the uninitiated such 
as myself).
