Be careful: when they count mixer channels, a stereo signal takes up two 
input channels.  A 4-channel mixer can only handle two stereo inputs.

When a mixer claims to be a stereo mixer, it's talking about having two 
independent *output* channels.

Not a bad idea, though your prices may go up a bit there.  (Along with the 
quality of equipment.)
