Thanks to all who have helped in pointing me in the correct direction to
get my qbasic program to run under Linux.
I have installed Dosemu and as I did in Dosbox, my program runs ok, but
the USB serial port did not. From previous posts, I have successfully
sent text out the USB serial port using /echo (text file) > /dev/COM1/
command under Dosemu, where COM1 is defined to be my USB serial port in
the udev definition file for a pluggable device.
Just for fun, I got another laptop which has hardware serial ports, I
installed Dosemu, then edited the /etc/dosemu/dosemu.conf file by
removing the # marks in front of the serial definitions, and then used
the serial definitions of /dev/ttys0 and 1. Now my qbasic based
program's serial ports work as they do under Windows. Success at
last!!!! However, the laptop is so old, it would be impractical to use.
I am now faced with a dilemma of buying a newer laptop with at least one
hardware serial port, or getting my program to work with USB serial
ports. I prefer the latter.
Still looking for ideas. I would like ideas on what to do with the
//etc/dosemu/doseum.conf/ file to make this work.
