Running Ubuntu/Gutsy, my /usr is about 5.3GB with all the desktop apps,
games, and other junk.  I personally wouldn't go below 10GB on / for a
desktop system unless I was crunched for space.  I usually assign
something like 20GB but I also only divide my desktop filesystems into a
/ partition and a /home partition (*ducks for cover*).  /boot is
nonsense, I'd rather live on the wild side.  :)
