My question was how to get the USB serial port stuff to be recognized by
Linux and passed through to Dosemu, so that legacy programs can be used
to actually work and used to make a living, not just play games.
Since my legacy program runs under qbasic, then how do I make it work
under Linux so I can get my whole company off Windows?
Obviously, I can rewrite it as Jim Prior has suggested. I have had this
done twice and do not use either program because they are too difficult
to use. So unless someone wants to volunteer to do it or not get paid if
it doesn't work, all I want to do is run what I already have under
Linux. It is qbasic program. Since it is supposed to work, why doesn't
it? This IS a Linux question. This is a Linux users group.

Does that legacy program display graphics or only text?
/It displays only text.

Any one want to give me a quote on doing the code for a rewrite, I will
send a simplified description. Fixed price quote and no pay if no work
like my qbasic program. Not that I don't trust programmers, but I just
don't trust programmers sense of business. Must be compilable on both
Windows or Linux and run on either. I expect it to install on Windows
just like my current program, which is just click on a .exe file and it
starts the install. Same type deal on Linux. No manual configuration of
anything: just install and then run. Of course, the original problem
with my program not working under Linux must be solved, which is
operation using pluggable USB serial ports (RS 232/485).
