[COLUG] Kubuntu boot time too long solved

To all:

I recently deleted everything off my hard drive and reinstalled Kubuntu 
Gutsy 32 bit from CD and got my repository updates. I discovered that 
the boot time was unusually long, so I hunted around for an answer. 
Quite a few people recommended changing or turning off the boot splash 
screen.

An OSU student suggested to do the following:
sudo nano /etc/usplash.conf
change the screen values to match your own.
Then:  sudo dpkg-reconfigure usplash

This seems to have fixed my problem. The link is:
