Memtest86+ is a sharp tool for exposing dodgy ram, and
processors which are not up to snuff (and one assumes, the
support chipsets); I burn all new boxes in with case sides on,
and all cards populating, (to get a realistic thermal load)
for at least 24 hr before a box is released to production.
ANY errors and the unit does not pass.
Then after a minimal install, i start several threads in hard
compile loops, and burn it again, to get the processor cache,
HD controllers, and friends a workout. On a new workstation,
I left that running with a LF gt 15 for a weekend.
Unfortunately those tests missed a sticky 't' and '5' key on a
laptop and I am debating getting a keyboard replaced ;)
