That's interesting information.

I opened this case by doing the 'chat with a Dell rep' function on the 
website.  The first rep wasn't entirely helpful as he directed me to 
several tech pages describing how to do things that didn't make sense... 
i.e. I told hiim the keyboard doesn't work, and the first site he directs 
me to explains how to use the keyboard to start onboard diagnostics; then, 
he says he'll show me how to reseat the keyboard and I end up on a page 
explaining how to diagnose a bad battery.

The rep who called back had what I thought at first was a Texan accent, 
but then it seemed that he was an Indian trained to speak in English 
accents.  In any case, he didn't seem to be following a script, so I 
volunteered the data points about swapping RAM.  He seemed to support the 
RMA based on that, and we got a box today to send it back.

What I didn't tell them is that we upgraded 7.04 to 7.10, but I don't 
think that in and of itself would cause a HW failure...
