That's what I thought, and that's the next area to work on.
I hooked up an external monitor (1280 x 1024) to my notebook display.
The on board display on the notebook is 1280 x 768 (wide screen).
Under Ubuntu Dapper (6.06) which is installed, I did get an external
display, but according to the monitors on-screen information, the
display on it is 1024 x 768 and the display seemed 'stretched'. Under
the live CD boot of Edgy (6.10), I got no display on the external
monitor.
In contrast, when booted into Windows XP, the external monitor went into
280 x 1024 mode and the 1280 by 768 display appeared letterboxed.
Is this just a matter of adjusting xorg.conf?
