[COLUG] libGL.so.1 not found

I just installed the ATI fglrx drivers on my notebook running Ubuntu
6.06 using a script I found on the ubnutuforums.
For the most part it seems to work. I now have support for my external
monitor at 1280 x 1024 ans 1024 x 768 which is what I was after.
However, the script installed an application fireglcontrolpanel which I
can't get to work. When I start it in a terminal window, I get a message
that it can't find the shared library libGL.so.1. There is a link
in /usr/lib for libGL.so.1 that points to /usr/lib/libGO.so.1.2. I've
run ldconfig -p and it finds the library. I've run ldd on
fireglcontrolpanel and it says it can't find libGL.so.1. I've run ldd on
libGL.so.1 and all the needed libraries are found.
Also, I still can't get fgl_glxgears to run. When I run, it says 'using
GLX_SGIX_pbuffer' then 'Floating point exception'
The notebook is using a Compaq Pressario V2000 with an AMD Turion
processor.
What am I missing?
Thanks,
Mark
