Another figure of merit you have to watch is vertical refresh rate. Many
projectors don't like anything more than 60Hz. Most others I've seen start
having geometry and color problems above 72hz.
Whatever project is settled on, it would probably be a good idea to explicitly
define a mode at the projector's native resolution and optimal refresh rate
in xorg.conf.
