I haven't started building SLES 10 installation script s yet.  I  am working 
on beta testing Novell's OES2, though, which must be installed on top of SLES 
10 sp1 (which is also in a beta).  Their documentation on the beta indicates 
that we should always deselect the "clone this system for autoyast" option, 
as it hangs the server.  So I'm guessing there is some problem within their 
XML creation utility.
