Well, I looked at the documents and found nothing, so then I decided
that perhaps I needed a better modem driver or more complete modem
driver than the compiled one with ALSA, so I used their scanning and
installation instructions and now I have no sound. It did not get rid of
the two errors and killed my current sound. So now I'll recompile my
ALSA drivers and get that back to where it was.

This looks like it will fix the 0551 unknown device problem, but I don't
have a clue as to how to install a patch. Never did understand that.
