I do periodic RSYNC to a "hot spare" server.  (Not as often
as I should.)  I find myself using RSYNC more and more.  The hot spare
is supposedly there in case the main server craters  (any reason,
not just a blown disk or FS).  RSYNC does not handle encryption at the
target end, though.  Also does not provide incrementals, which would be
helpful for "oooooopppsss"  recovery,  which may be more common than
disk or other hardware failures.
