[COLUG] OpenOffice vs. Intel 810 Chipset

Howdy All,
A while back I posted about X.org locking up hard when my fiancee used
certain openoffice functions. This was on CentOS 5 using an Intel 810
chipset. (Unfortunately the Xorg logfile I sent to the list didn't make
it through...) We didn't think much of it as I was generally able to SSH
in and fix it.
Just now, on the shiny new Dell Inspiron that came pre-loaded with Ubuntu,
she saw the same thing. We were able to jolt the laptop out of its state
by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1 numerous times, and then the Fn button while also
pressing the suspend, CRT, and other blue-labeled buttons. Getting a
terminal on tty1 allowed me to kill OpenOffice and proceed normally.
I'd think that with something this prevelant - a Dell with the Intel 810
series chipset, using Ubuntu Feisty, running OpenOffice - people would
complain about it locking up hard. I guess I'll post on UbuntuForums
about this.
Anyone else noticing a similar problem?
Cheers,
-J
