I have successfully run WASTE (http://waste.sourceforge.net) via WINE.

There is a linux version that is a PITA to get working and only offers
limited functionality..  Whereas, it's trivial to "apt-get install
wine", download the WASTE setup.exe, run "wine setup.exe" then "wine
waste.exe"

Works fine on my fiesty laptop.

For most Windows apps though I just use VMWare.
