[COLUG] can't write to cifs shares

Sorry about the earlier e-mail accidently sent.

Anyway, for some reason I cannot write to my cifs shares on my server. I've 
checked and rechecked everything and nothing seems to work.

here is a little info just in case someone else may spot a problem.

//192.168.2.2/e /home/david/e cifs    uid=root,gid=users,password=xxxxxx 0 0
//192.168.2.2/f  /home/david/f  cifs    uid=david,gid=users,password=xxxxx 0 0
//192.168.2.2/d /home/david/d cifs    credentials=/home/david/.smbpass 0 0

I've tried using root and david as the gid and I've tried using smbpasswd file 
but when I try to mount using the file I get:

mount.cifs failed: password in credentials file too long.

I hope someone has some advice.
