While you're certainly welcome to take that tact, given that this problem
is fairly common when dealing with Core (2) Duo and Pentium D motherboards,
you may be looking at generally higher costs. Personally, I see no need
for seeking premium equipment, when the fixes are straightforward.
Personally, I wouldn't return a new car because the radio stations weren't
set to the stations I wanted. I wouldn't return a new car because I ran
out of gas. Nor would I return a mobo when the problem was a usage error.
All that does is unfairly put cost on the vendor, which while it may solve
your short-term problem, it will also drive up costs or reduce choices in
the market in the future.
When it's a usage error, I try to take personal responsibility for what I'm
doing. That's part of the hidden cost of working with "Free" (as in both
beer and speech) software: you have choice, but you also have
responsibility. This doesn't require WRITING a patch to fix the problem:
it requires taking care to make things work properly.
