Yes, that is the going rate that we were quoted for our convention.  I
purchased a refurbished Sharp unit from Staples that ended up being
$499 after a mail-in rebate that is a very good unit (about $1100
originally).  I just looked and did not see anything comparable on
that site but you may want to look around and see if anyone else is
offering a similar deal.
