Sorry for the response to myself, but I need to do better math in my head.

Net result:  /dev/zero is about 80x to 100x faster than /dev/urandom...

Even so, it seems to still be advised to use /dev/urandom when you're 
clearing disks to protect whatever data may have been stored on it in 
the past, especially before giving away or reusing the disk.
