When you set up the printer in CUPS, you should be able to tell the
printer to always do duplex.
Unfortunately Firefox (at least version 2.0) doesn't seem to give much
access to printer controls. I usually use Konqueror as my web browser,
which gives me complete access to the print controls through KDE's print
system.
Once upon a time I was often printing in a computer lab with HP Laserjet
printers that could do PostScript and duplex, but were not configured to
do duplex by default. So to print I used a little script that prefixed
the printer instructions to enable duplex for my job. I may still have
that script around somewhere.....
