Seems to me to be in the spirit of the purpose of a LUG. The whole
point of the list is to help people solve problems and answer
questions. If someone asks about a service, and another replies that
they can offer said service, where's the issue? It would be a different
story if someone blindly solicited said service, but as I see it,
stopping people from providing an answer/solution to someone's problem
is totally contradictory to the purpose/spirit of a
LUG/mailing-list/support group.
Hell let's take it one step further, the earlier posts asking about a
local Fry's equivalent, if someone was a Microcenter employee, and
suggested Microcenter, should they be banned? How about the guy who
asked the question in the first place? If you want to be fascist about
it, I'm sure there's plenty more to ban, under the letter of the rule,
not the spirit.
