I heard recently from someone (Larry?) who was trying to get
Linux running on a Toshiba. He was having much difficulty.
If I recall correctly, installations took 32 hours,
instead of 32 minutes. Toshiba seemed to do things in a very
weird proprietary way.

Since Dell is selling some stuff with Linux,
your chances of installing Linux on a Dell are much better.

Sony makes great stuff, but do stuff their own weird proprietary way.
They also have DRM and vendor lock-in proclivities.
Just stay away from Sony.

The IBM/Lenovo laptops have a great reputation.

This mailing list is for stuff related to Linux.
How is your quest related to Linux?
For Windows related questions, ask somewhere else,
such as the Columbus Computer Society.
