Thanks for the suggestion. It looks like even if I get things working,
they may not work well enough. I hooked up my inkjet printer to my
notebook computer which was running Ubuntu Gutsy which already had the
correct version of Guttenprint and while it would print to the printer,
the resolution choices were limited to 300 and 600 dpi when the printer
will do 2400 DPI with the Windows drivers.

The printer is a Canon Pixma iP5000.  I bought the printer before I
began working with Linux.
