I would definitely consider that before springing $40 
for a stupid 20 cent part. 

Bring the motherboard in an anti-static bag to Friday lunch. 
I'll bring my tools. 
Too bad you didn't bring it to the last meeting. 

If that doesn't fix it, consider getting the connector from 
a dead laptop. The FreeGeek folks might be able to help you 
there. Some of the show up for lunch.
