Ok, after thinking about this, it appears you can get internet phone 
service for free with this combo.

Connect your GrandCentral number, to your sipphone.com (free) account. 
Then, connect sipphone.com to your home Linux server running asterisk... 
or use any one of a number of other hardware or software phones with 
sipphone.com.

I don't see how Google can continue to offer this service for free, since 
they actually have numbers on the POTS network...
