As a counterpoint here, think "reduced network maintenance" -- all client 
machines use DHCP on my networks; all servers and network infrastructure 
devices (routers, APs, switches, printers) are static.  I don't know that I 
always want DHCP run on a router... but it's certainly sensible in a lot of 
cases.

I spend virtually no time screwing with client management anymore, and 
haven't for the three years I've been doing things this way.  DHCP is a 
good thing... a *very* good thing.  The same holds true for the networks I 
manage for my consulting clients, who sing praises regularly on the reduced 
cost of management that DHCP has brought them.
