Remember that Win2K and WinXP (and presumably Vista) are all NT machines 
underneath, and if they have file/printer sharing turned on then they're 
a server.  (Also any samba servers count.)

As far as I can tell the user/group information is only available from a 
server configured for it (though I don't use Windows network user 
authentication and therefore don't pay attention to that aspect), but the 
machine name information is provided by any machine with file/printer 
sharing turned on, to anyone broadcasting the question.
