[COLUG] Websphere MQ vs ApacheMQ

"I was under the impression that the WebSphere MQ/Apache ActiveMQ
relationship was similar to the Geronimo Server/WebSphere Application
Server relationship."

Actually, no... I've done *some* research on this topic. IBM's MQSeries
has literally been around for ages.

If I remember correctly, ActiveMQ is an implementation of the OpenAMQ
spec. OpenAMQ was engineered by a firm, iMatix, for JPMorganChase. There
are several client libs and brokers for this spec: RabbitMQ, OpenAMQ, and
I believe ActiveMQ is also an implementation.

Websphere MQ provides a substantial income base for IBM, so I doubt they'd
provide a lot of support for the OpenAMQ implementations - even though
both products have the same goal.

Cheers,
-J
