I have a 17" CRT that I got back in '99 that's still kicking and at
different times it's had a lot of extended/heavy use.

Although I guess taking into account things like amount of electricity
drawn verse the cost of a new monitor every few years should also factor
into things, if you are going down this road a laptop will use less
power compared to a desktop also, in which case you get a monitor built
in! :)
