I moved my email to Google several months ago. Currently I use the
Google apps option and have the MX record for one of my busier vanity
domains pointed to them. The setup was straightforward and went very
smoothly. I will be doing the same for another one of my vanity
domains in the near future as part of a hosting provider move.

So far I have been quite happy with the switch. The amount of spam I
actually receive in my Inbox hovers around one, maybe two a week.
Considering the domain I moved houses one of the emails I tend to post
to mailing lists with I find that extremely good.

My reasons for taking the Google pill was that I get enough spam
fighting in for a day at work. I didn't feel the need to do so at
home as well. It also makes it easy for the other family members to
have their choice of way to access the email I handle for them through
the vanity domain. They can use Gmail directly or configure an email
client to do POP or IMAP.
