Firefox has for me been mostly down hill after the 1.0.x versions, from
about 1.5 and especially with v2 the memory usage went through the roof
and I was restarting the browser if not computer multiple times a day as
a result, this was when they were sticking their heads in the sand over
memory leaks saying there wasn't any (last I heard they've fixed 300 or
more in v3 alpha/betas from v2 code or something).

I finally got sick of rebooting/restarting apps all the time, switched
to Opera and everything works as I firefox used to.

The latest 'stable' version of flash only works in firefox and beta
versions of Opera. I had all sorts of problems with flash even in
firefox until I downloaded the whole archive tarball adobe puts out of
old versions just to down grade to 9.0r48
