[COLUG] RE: Tax Prep on Linux

You know, for several years I used Intuit's TurboTax on the Web without
issue. Yeah, it complained about not being compatible, but that never
posed problems.

This year, it complained about not being compatible, but it would NOT let
me past the "you're not compatible" page. So I opened up a chat window
and asked the rep why I had been able to bypass the incompatibility screen
and file taxes for the past few years with no problems, but now I can't.
"Oh, we fixed that this year!"

Or, more to the point, broke it.

After that conversation I used H&R Block without issue. I was able to
bypass their "you're incompatible" page. (CentOS 5.1, FireFox 2.0.0.11)
I find that very ironic because, at least as of last year, H&R Block is
just a different 'skin' on TurboTax. (I guess the H&R Block company
didn't want to write their own web app, so they just purchased the
services from Intuit...) I'm not sure if that is different this year or
not.

Good luck!
Cheers,
-J
