While not at a point to show off here are some bits I'm chewing on. It would
be great to hear from others who have done similar or just have ideas.
- Autonomous system administration. Using subversion, cfengine/puppet,
kickstart, nagios/hobbit and probably some perl to glue it together. Toying
with the idea, but unfortunately not a main goal at work so I haven't been
able to create a working model.
- Home automation (domotics). Using sensor networks, X10/insteon/UPB/Z-wave
and linux to automate the house. Throw in home theater to the mix and you've
got the house of the future. ;) Again still mainly in idea phase but would
love to hear from those that have venture into this realm. Extra points to
being able to start small (read cheap) and scale to a full-blown setup.

Definitely will make it to this meeting so I can finally meet everyone in
person.
